Ice-sailing on the Runway

Yesterday was March 7, 2010. I was on my way home from a day trip shooting the Spray Lakes south of Canmore Alberta when I stopped to see if the ice-boys were playing.

I was there shooting the Ice-sailing for about 10 minutes, when I heard a familiar sound. Looking around and up I see this plan on approach about to land on Ghost Reservoir, just West of Cochrane. Springbank Airport is within gliding distance of where he landed, so it raises many questions. There's got to be a great back story to this scenario. A Flickr contact of mine is looking into it being an emergency or planned landing(which we doubt).
